Sports Premium

Introduction to Sports Premium Funding

From September, 2017, the DfE have increased school sports premium funding to £16,000 plus £5, per child, based on the number of pupils in Years 1-6. This represents a considerable sum and allows us to boost physical activity levels, offer staff CPD, train staff to plan, deliver and assess PE at a higher level and increase the number of pupils taking part in competitive sports.

Introduction of new sports – we introduced Futsal into curriculum. We used £400 for equipment and set-up. This sport is particularly suited to our school as it does not require a large playing space, and it can be transferred to fields as weather improves

We engaged with a specialist provider who came into school on Monday afternoons and provided pupils with a wider range of activities.

On the 5th February 2019, the DfE revised its guidance again for the PE and Sport Premium spend (Available to view on this page).

It is pleasing to see that the DfE and other government departments have seen fit to slim down the expected outcomes and take notice of the advice presented by key partners such as the Youth Sport Trust. Please refer to our proposed spend for 2-18/19 using AfPE’s SP Spend reporting document.
